The Land Between is a ultra-distance on and off-road cycling event, starting and finishing in that little known space in between Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. A place we're lucky enough to call our backyard. The route takes in a stunning mix of remote landscapes and quiet woodland, urban and industrial settings, and just about everything in between — including a 300m ride through a tunnel 40ft beneath the River Tyne. We're told it can leak from time to time.
Northumberland is remote, and big. Renowned for its breathtaking beauty, rugged landscapes, castles, pristine beaches and a rich history. That's why we want people that enjoy bikepacking adventures to experience this unique place. This is far from an ordinary event though — do your research and you'll soon discover that Northumberland is well known for it's dark skies, cold headwinds and a chance of 'anything is possible' weather. The event is tough, but we never said it would be easy.
